BARTÓK’S MASTERPIECE RETURNS TO THE STAGE – THE MIRACULOUS MANDARIN

After two years, Bartók’s exceptional and emblematic work returns to Müpa Budapest, and will also be performed in Bonn and Bucharest by the artists of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Eva Duda Dance Company. The production, conducted by Iván Fischer and choreographed by Eva Duda, premiered in 2023 as part of the Bridging Europe Festival.
This monumental score and its sweeping choreography meet again this September:
📌September 17 – Bucharest, Enescu Festival
📌September 19, 20, 21 – Budapest, Müpa Concert Hall
📌September 27 – Bonn, Beethovenfest
Bartók’s story, pushing the boundaries of body and soul, unfolds in a stage space encircled by musicians, raised above the orchestra. Dynamic and nuanced movements, delicate gestures, and a striking visual world guide the audience into Bartók’s dramatic universe, where music, dance, and narrative unite in perfect harmony.
