Chicago is the city of crime. At the end of the 1920’s criminals, robbers and gangsters living here outnumbered honest citizens. The prohibition of alcohol started a chain reaction that not only made being uncorrupted impossible, but also a luxury. There is only one way to stand out of this milieu, and that is with the help of the media.

The story of the Chinese princess has turned into a myth. By today, the name itself has become the symbol of a proud and cruel woman thanks to Carlo Gozzi, who adapted the original Persian tale for the stage and later on to Friedrich Schiller, who reconstructed Gozzi’s work and made a success out of it in Weimar, and last but not least to Giacomo Puccini, who was inspired by the passionate story of the misandric virgin princess to compose one of all times’ most popular operas.
