The performance entitled CARNEVAL explores the subject of transformation, focusing on discovering our familiar and unknown sides. Our imaginary human and animal faces encounter in this dynamic adventure, where extremes do not only occur on the level of characters, but also in blending contradicting movements.
How many masks do we have?
How many roles can we play?
Which ones are real?
And which one is in charge?
“This is a crooked circus, the stunt of life, a vivid cavalcade, this is a game of trust, an initiation, a secret encounter in the mirror, a vicious noise, the bullet hits you and I fall like a shot rabbit. This is loud blossomy, an ambush, a single fight, you twist and I cling, purring the rhythm while you cradle my square-cut heart. Abruptly we exchange our masks, and you cast a shadow around me.”
Harangozó-prize winner choreographer Éva Duda created this performance for the Central Europe Dance Theatre’s twentieth jubilee.
